iPhone 2G does not require any jailbreak or unlock

I recently bought an iPhone 2G. It was already unlocked and jailbroken so I did not have to do anything. But me being nerd was trying to get latest iOS 4 to work on 2G. Well to my surprise iOS 4 worked with 2G but performance was not that great so I decided to install the original firmware and then jailbreak if required. And beleive me everything worked fine the firmware version 3.1.3 and I am using the phone without any unlock or jailbreak. I think apple has decided to free these old souls i.e. iPhone 2Gs

Wow ! This post was written with the same iPhone using WordPress app :)

iPhone 3GS Jailbroken Finally

Remember George Hotz ! The 20 year old hacker who originally cracked the iPhone firmware. , Here he goes again, he has released a new jailbreaking application for the iPhone 3GS. The new application to jailbreak the iPhone 3GS is codenamed as “purplera1n.” The application currently supports Windows-only excluding Windows 7.(windows 7 is not supported). For purplera1n you would require the latest iTunes installed, and an iPhone 3GS with the 3.0 firmware.

Hotz speaks in a blog post that purplera1n will suppport Mac soon. The iPhone Dev Team did release a unlock for 3.0 which did not work on the iPhone 3GS, but Hotz’s version does (although it doesn’t free you from your current carrier).

Hotz goes over the process of the jailbreaking on his blog:

Connect your iPhone normally. Click “make it ra1n”. Wait. On bootup, run Freeze, the purplera1n installer app.

This is how the GUI of purplera1n looks like.

Yeah.. I know what you are thinking. That its such an old story. But I am not going to give you tips on how to unlock your iPhone 3G or 2G. I just wanna know the aftermaths of unlocking. Is there any wierd thing that you guys have experienced after unlocking your iPhone 3g 3.0. If yes then please let others know as well.

Anyways lets talk about Dev-Team. After Steve Jobs’ Team I am really a big fan of this team. I mean look at what a multi billion dollar company team is doing. And then look at these some part time bloggers+developers. They are pain in the ass of apple ever since iPhone launch and I guess before that, from iPod ages. Really hats of to Dev-Team. Keep up the good work for jailbreaking and unlocking iphone 3.0 software.

If you really wanna know how to unlock and more info about Dev-Team, if you are still looking for this information. Please visit here.
