What we did not see in Mumbai Terrorist Attacks

I just started my day in anger, grievance and shock today. I was chatting with one of my old friend yesterday night. He is in UK for study and while chatting he asked me to download a documentary on Mumbai Terror attacks. The documentary revolves around eye witnesses and their interviews just after the attack. It has rare videos shot just after the attack. The most amazing are the never heard calls which were made by terrorists and their commanders. There are security camera videos as well from Taj, CST and other places.

I can’t even begin to explain how bad I felt after watching the documentary.  The guy whose whole family died is haunting me till now. His words “I don’t understand why they kill people” is what I can’t forget. I don’t think I will ever be able to. In the documentary there was a video which shows Policemen running away from CST as soon as they saw the terrorists. Well, I know people get scared of these kind of things. But then what is the difference between Police and Civilian. I am still not convinced that if there is anything that we have learnt from the Mumbai Attacks. I think we will never be.

My observation of the whole movie is :

Mumbai Police : Yes some fought brevely but some really did show that they are in a Govt. job not in a life saving job.

Indian Media : The most fucking and shitting media ever. They just show anything and everything. I just can’t tell you what I am feeling right now while writing this. They don’t even care what will happen if they show everything live. Our media is like If someone is dying, they would interview it first. Show it live and display EXCLUSIVE on their News Channel and the report back and the person will die in the back..

People : Here in India, people are so fond of Camera that they forget where they are. They just want to appear in front of Camera. No matter if anyone is dying just before them. They just want to be there and get interviewed.

I would recommend you all Indians, in fact every one in the world to watch this movie. There are some footages which are rare and not seen ever. See the people speaking. See the Indians talking about that devastating day when they lost their loved ones.

Policemen in India, specially the ones who get responsibility to get posted on stations and other public areas are not likely to get armours or sufficient firearms to handle situations as serious as terror attacks. While such attack happens be it terrorist or mafia wars , they run away. The two genuine reason behind running away is

    1. They are not enabled (armurs/firearms) enough to fight with them.
    2. Most importantly, apart from getting recognized only from media, if they get seriously injured or if they die for the nation, they are not sure whether they will get the sufficient source of money to take care of their family, as most of the times they are the only source of income for their family and dependency on them is very high.

The government should come up with some kind of plan for these departments (police) who handle these situation upfront , to provide a complete package of security and assurance, in term of physical, mental and financial that they should not think of

a- Me Myself – What will happen to me , i am not armoured enough, neither i have enough firearms to fight. They should rather feel competitive enough to fight with them

b – My family – What will happen to my family if something happens to me. This idea should not come to their mind, if they have a complete package of financial and personal support by the govt/special govt deptt/other organization.

Because even only when they will have their peace of mind, only then they will be able to think of looking at these situation more actively. Because in a country like india we think about ourselves first, then the family and then the idea comes to give away life for the country, because we know that the only person who can help us in this world during our adverse situation is the person itself.

I agree with you Maneesh but don’t you think a Policemen who has taken oath of saving his countrymen till the last drop of his blood. he is suppose to save people rather than running. I understand that there are concerns that our government need to consider but again who will address them if the people who are dying on the front are not willing to take a stance. Why do these people demand for higher salary but the basic combat equipments used in the situations like these. The end result is nothing. We are just being fooled by our government nothing else. Tax payers money is going in the pocket of our politicians. I don’t know what is going to happen to this country but I am sure of one thing till the time we have politicians over 35 years of age we are not going to be a developed country no matter what we do. These kind of attacks keep on happening if we do not consider investing in our country’s infrastructure.

A person in UK is seen on CCTV more than 100 times in a day on an average. I don’t know what you can make out of this, all I wanna say is that these kind of incidents will happen till the time we have people for that intention in this world. But the increased technological advances are of no use if we don’t make the full use of it.

And I think India should consider on its Infrastructural growth at this point of time or atleast for the next 10 years rather then sending failure Chandrayaan’s in the orbit.

It was a rare situation that police men had to face at train station.

It was a mistake on govt side.

It is so stupid on govt side that it couldn’t even place armed guards in all train stations after being targeted for many times in the past.

Still, same people who have witnessed the attack went home and voted the same govt who couldn’t take any necessary actions for civillian’s safety.

“Police ran away”! . I am not surprised. Certainly, their job is not fighting against terrorists with bare sticks. I salute those brave men who fought against them and lost their lives.

Govt immediately declared that they will have an armed force to face these situations. Wheh.. They better use them for security of mumbai train stations to avoid the attacks in the first place.

Use sniffer dogs. If RAW is sleeping, wake them up. We don’t want alerts everyday about who is going to attack and where. We want them to be proactive like “find them and kill”.

Yes, you are dead right. We don’t expect bare handed policemen to fight against fully armed terrorists. But I somehow feel that its our own mistake that we have let our government spend our own money into something which is of no use for civilians. You pointed it out right that we don’t have to wait for anyone to attack our country first and then we take actions against anyone. We should just finish the battle once in for all. I am really sad and angry on the way our Indian government has reacted on 26/11 against Pakistan. When you know someone has done it, why are you wasting your time in some negotiations. That too when FBI supported with all the evidence, it was pretty clear that US government wanted India to take some actions, but we being from India believe in peace. And anyone can invade our country and ruin our peace and freedom. We live in that country where government is sleeping and our politicians are taking advantage of that.
